March Mayhem

March Mayhem

Let’s talk about the beginning of March and the Pisces New Moon that is happening on Wednesday, March 2, at 12:36 EST.  There is a large stellium building in Pisces this New  Moon. We also have Mars exactly conjuncting Pluto on the same day being backed up by Venus and the dwarf planet Vesta.  This is decision time.

What do you want, I mean really want deep in your soul? Mars is in the last few degrees of Capricorn conjuncting Pluto.  This conjunction happens every two-ish couple of years, but this is special because Mars is in his exaltation in Capricorn, and Venus, his lover, is along for the ride.  Like Bonnie and Clyde they are heading into Aquarius, but firs they are going to pull into the  Underworld (Pluto)  b for a brief pitstop.  This conjunction with Pluto is about deep transformation regarding your desires and your values.

Don’t forget that Saturn, in Aquarius, will be exactly conjunct Mercury on the same day, and this is about long-term manifestation and commitment regarding what you are focusing on.  So if Mars and Venus come up from the Underworld it could be a rebirth that looks more like a great escape in a hail of bullets, so you’d better have your noggin’ in the right place.

With the energy of Jupiter conjunct the Moon and Sun in Pisces, it’s time to, “Go big, or go home,” with your dreams.  Jupiter loves to take a risk and all of these celestial objects in Pisces are harmoniously sextiling Uranus in Taurus, so could be the right time to look for a miracle (wink, wink) or at least a colossal new beginning.

Let’s face it, you are manifesting all the time, whether you are doing it consciously or unconsciously. If you can feel this energy growing in intensity then your consciousness is ready to take charge, but like any good opportunist, you will need a plan.  Focus, dammit, focus!  Write down three things you wish for and use this Bonnie and Clyde energy surge to propel you forward.  You will either walk away a fool, or a queen.

The Sun will exactly conjunct Jupiter on Saturday, March 5 and this can help you on your journey.  This conjunction will take you deep – right down to the bottom of your soul, and it is there in the darkness where you have the chance to face your truth and then create the truth you want to consciously create. You see, if you consciously get into the drivers seat you could choose your next destination as Mars and Venus head into future (Aquarius) on Sunday, March 6, reborn.  Anything is possible, so straighten your crown and go get it GIRL!

Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius

Saturn Retrograde in Aquarius

Every year Saturn goes retrograde and it gives us time to review the last 6 – 7 months.  This is the perfect time to do the necessary checks and balances, which will kick our ass if we don’t see to them first.  That’s because Saturn is the Lord of Karma and when he is retrograde it is time for the karmic cleanse. Saturn is retrograde from May 23 – October 10 and he will be bringing the discipline and leadership that we all need.

This retrograde will be interesting because Saturn has been moving through Aquarius —the sign of the humanitarian and the progressive, since last December.  It is rather obvious that we are in the midst of sweeping changes to society, and that is predominately due to Saturn and Jupiter (currently in Pisces until July 28) both moving through this fixed air sign.  As the collective consciousness continues to transform we can feel this shift building to a crescendo. With Saturn retrograde, it is time to re-evaluate how we live, and how we can do that in harmony with people and the planet.

Last year Saturn was retrograde in Capricorn, a sign he is most often associated with and rules. However, Saturn is also the ancient ruler of Aquarius, co-ruling with Uranus (ironically his father, and not the best when it comes to parenting). Saturn is squaring Uranus in Taurus all year. A square brings internal conflict, and Taurus represents the things that we love and value: money, food, shelter, etc., and Aquarius is about the future of humanity.  As Uranus continues to square Saturn he is literally pushing him, all year long, into seeing those foundational things from a different vantage point — constantly giving contrast so we can push past the old and embrace the future.

With Saturn back-tracking we might feel the need to rebel against anything that seems to be holding us back.  That could include, jobs, friends, relationships, personal goals, etc. Chances are we will revisit our own personal dreams and needs and realize that it’s time to brake out of old patterns so we can embrace and acknowledge our growth.

Taking a look at the big-picture, globally this is about changing systems that have become outdated and no longer serve that values (that are changing) or the greater good of the collective.  Saturn loves structure, but Saturn retrograde takes a look at what no longer is working and determines the best way to fix it.  This is accomplished by creating new pathways and opportunities for leadership that help everyone as we move into the future.

Take a look at your birth chart; you can get a free one at Foxy Astrology.  You will want to see what house is ruled by Aquarius in your chart and that will tell you what area of life you will be reviewing during this retrograde.  For all of us, this retrograde will impact the groups that we are a part of and could spark your activism. Perhaps you will change political affiliation or start a new spiritual practice. Whatever “it” is, it will become more evident as the summer comes to a close.  Saturn still has several more years —and a few more retrogrades— in Aquarius so this is just the beginning of a long transformation.

Saturn is the great guru, and sometimes his lessons can be challenging, but ultimately we are here to learn. If we pay attention to what Saturn is teaching us individually we can make quantum leaps in our own destinies and those of the collective.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

I have done more astrological readings then I can count, and they all boil down to people wanting to know about two things: love and money.  Venus happens to rule both of these two things; she is also the ruler of the 2nd house (Taurus — the things that we love and value) and the 7th house (Libra —  the house of marriage and contractual relationships).

Love supposedly makes the world go round, but let’s face it – love can also make people a little crazy.  People who don’t have it, want it…and people that have it often find that it doesn’t always bring the happiness and fulfillment that they imagined.  The really crazy thing is that there is so much more to a person than just love and money.  Don’t get me wrong — they are important pieces of the pie, but most people focus on these aspects alone and lose sight of the big picture.  A good astrological reading can provide so much insight, and yet we still want/need these “things” above all others — particularly the love bit.

Where Venus is located in your chart is very important; you can get a free birth chart at Foxy Astrology so you can locate her. Just knowing where Venus lives in your chart can tell you a lot about what your wants and needs are. Often these will be expanded by Jupiter aspects, could be made long-term by Saturn aspects, or if the Sun is involved you could really be feeling yourself (and someone else too).  Anytime you have Venus in a harmonious aspect with these guys it normally means things are happening in the fun, romance, or maybe even the serious commitment department.

Harmonious aspects are conjunctions (0 – 3˚), sextiles (60˚) or trines (120˚), but if you are looking for love then there a few areas of your chart that can clue you in on if you are putting your aspects to good use.  I mean, why waste your time on Mr./Mrs. Right when you might only be in the market for Mr./Mrs. Right Now?

I Just Wanna Have Some Fun!

The 5th house, where Leo resides (although your 5th house is most likely in another sign), rules love, romance, play, and is all about the fun.  If you have Venus, Jupiter or the Sun moving through this house or aspecting one of your planets in this house — bada bing, get ready for a fling. That doesn’t mean it won’t be more — but knowing the energy will help you just relax and enjoy without putting all your cards on the table.

Put A Ring On It

The 7th house is where Libra resides in the main chart and is ruled by Venus. This house is often call “the House of Marriage” and it represents contractual, long-term relationships. If Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, the Sun or any combo of these celestial bodies are moving into the 7th house in your chart, you might be hearing wedding bells… or at least signing a lease with someone.  The year that I got married — more than 20 years ago — Saturn was moving into my 7th house. I’m still married today… so, thanks Saturn!

Checked the Progressed

If you haven’t had your progressed chart done and you are looking for long-term love, it can be really helpful.  The Moon represents our emotions and internal life. The progressed moon moving through your 7th house can be great indication that a significant union could be in your future.  If you are over 35, then getting a progressed reading can be very expansive for all areas of your life since you have evolved a bit since birth.  If you are considering a long-term union getting a synastry reading (comparing two charts) is a very helpful.  Learning about the strengths and weaknesses of your relationship with your Mr./Mrs. Right can help you take your relationship to a deeper level of understanding for both of you.

Crazy in Love

In the immortal words of Freddy Mercury, “I kinda like it, crazy little thing called love!” And why?  Because love has spiritual and chemical dimension and nothing else can compare to that blissful release of dopamine and oxytocin — that intoxicating feeling of being completely alive.

Saturn square Uranus – 2021

Saturn square Uranus – 2021

They say that opposites attract, and sometimes that attraction causes enough sparks to make you pay closer attention. Where your attention goes, energy flows! This year Saturn in Aquarius will exactly square Uranus in Taurus three times: Feb. 17, Jun. 14, and Dec. 24.  These squares will help us continue making the transition between the Piscean and Aquarian Ages.  Indeed, we will feel this energy all throughout 2021.

A square in astrology creates tension; it’s considered a “disharmonious” aspect that often presents itself as an obstacle or a challenge.  This square will be operational most of the year, so expect the unexpected! Saturn is moving though Aquarius (fixed air) for the next 2.5 years and he is a co-ruler of this sign along with Uranus who is moving through Taurus (fixed earth) until April of 2026.

Fixed signs offer stability so that things can take root… eventually growing into something completely new. When a planet is moving through a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), it provides great focus.

Saturn and Uranus are essentially diametrically opposed. Their synodic cycle (the relationship between any two planets) spins around the creation of new ideas, fresh circumstances, and innovations – often resulting from a crisis point.  Saturn represents tradition, structure, law, rules, regulation, restrictions, and hard work. Uranus embodies freedom, eccentricity, innovation, sudden change, surprises, and miracles.

There are many myths that involve these two — usually in some kind of tussle.  In mythology,  Saturn – the lord of karma — is the son of Uranus (the sky god). The conflict embodied between these two, in terms of squaring energy, can create almost anything that the mind can conceive.

Take a look at what houses are ruled by Aquarius and Taurus in your natal chart.  This is where you can “expect the unexpected” this year, particularly around those three dates when the square perfects.  You can get a free birth chart on Foxy Astrology, and determine what areas of life this square will impact for you.

This is a building year; a year to focus on anything you want to be, to do, or to have. It would be the perfect year to start regularly meditating, doing yoga, or any practice that facilitates focusing your thoughts and energy on what you want to create for yourself and the world.

Saturn in Aquarius 2020 – 2023

Saturn in Aquarius 2020 – 2023

You can’t talk about Saturn moving into Aquarius without mentioning the Grand Conjunction that will take place on Solstice, December 21. The Grand Conjunction marks the end of an era and the beginning a  new 20-year cycle.  This cycle is part of a greater one where the Grand Conjunctions happen every 20-years in the same element (Earth, Air, Water, Fire).  So, the last Grand Conjunction took place in Taurus, an Earth sign.  Now we will be experiencing this conjunction in Air signs going forward for the next 200 years.  Air is a very different element than Earth, which is about stability and concrete things.  Air is less tangible, fast-moving, and concerned with the cerebral.

Saturn enters Aquarius on December 17, where he is the co-ruler with his father, Uranus.  Saturn transits are never easy.  Saturn is known as the Lord of Time, the Lord of Karma, the Great Guru, and he isn’t interested in making or taking shortcuts.  He is all about the journey and he is the embodiment of that old adage that if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing well. This takes time and attention.

So, what is this journey about? Saturn in Aquarius is about progress, but that progress is gained through hard work and accountability.  Saturn made a brief entrée into Aquarius earlier this year that gave us an appetizer of things to come.  On March 21, 2020  – July 1, 2020, Saturn moved into the first few degrees of Aquarius (fixed air) and right away we experienced a lockdown on air travel due to the virus. So that meant that the airlines, airports, and travelers had to take on much greater accountability in order to open up air travel again; those restrictions and precautions are still in place today.

The last two times Saturn was in Aquarius were from February 6th, 1991, to May 21st, 1993, and from June 30th, 1993, to January 28th, 1994.  This was when Apartheid was dismantled in South Africa. If your birth date falls in either of those ranges, you’re experiencing your first Saturn return or are about to.  This is a mark of maturity; one of potentially three times in your life that Saturn will return to the exact degree it was at when you were born.

Saturn cycles are about 27 – 29 years in length and herald accomplishment and growth. Some of life’s most significant decision are made during challenging Saturn transits. Saturn helps us to determine and then focus on our personal best.  Whatever isn’t working for us will discarded or ripped away depending on where you are at in your cycle of maturity. So, you can either approach it the hard way… or the harder way.  Regardless, you will experience tremendous personal growth.

Jupiter will enter Aquarius on December 19 in preparation for the Grand Conjunction and will spend the next year in Aquarius. Jupiter is known as the Great Benefic.  Saturn is the Great Manifestor, but you will have to work for it and be patient. Saturn delivers on long-term plans and usually the results are greater and worth the wait and the work.

With Saturn in Aquarius with Jupiter for the next year he will continue to restrict, and Jupiter will continue to expand.  It may feel like two steps forward and three steps back, but it might also serve a greater purpose as we look to build innovative social structures that will address poverty, climate change, social inequity, and so many other issues that we have ignored or slapped bandages on.  These are such big and important issues that won’t be solved without Saturn’s hallmarks of hard work, integrity, and accountability.

Timing is everything! Saturn moving into Aquarius for the next two years and continuing the Grand Conjunctions in Air signs for the next 200 years is the dawning of a new Age; the Age of Aquarius.

The Grand Conjunction

The Grand Conjunction

The last time Jupiter was in Aquarius was in 2009. Jupiter spends one year in each sign and as he gets ready to leave Capricorn on December 19, 2020 for Aquarius, he is only days away from a Grand Conjunction with Saturn on December 21. A conjunction is where two or more planets, or celestial objects, align at the same astrological degree.

The Grand Conjunction, happens in a 20-year cycles when Jupiter and Saturn conjunct, beginning a new astrological era.  This 20-year cycle is part of a 200-year cycle where the Grand Conjunction changes elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water).  So, for the last 200 years Jupiter and Saturn have conjuncted in Earth signs, however, this Grand Conjunction will begin a new 200-year cycle in Air signs. This time beginning with Aquarius, on Winter Solstice, December 21, 2020.  Oh, and BTW, this hasn’t happened in over 1000 years. [Mic drop!]

Aquarius is the great humanitarian and has the energy of both Uranus and Saturn, as they are co-rulers of this progressive sign.  This will no doubt be a big change for all of us, as this sign is about the collective, not the individual. So, anyone that is used to being the center of attention will need to make room for others.   Even though Aquarius is the most “out-of-the-box” sign in the zodiac (Uranus) it is still a “fixed” sign (Saturn), which means that it might take a hot minute to get that box open.

Jupiter and Saturn provide great opportunities for achievement.  Jupiter expands energy and lends his generous and optimistic nature to giving you the courage you need to take a risk.  Saturn is the taskmaster that can fuel you to git’er done.  So, if you want to launch something, or take something to the next level this year could be perfect for that.

Obviously if you have an Aquarius Sun, Moon, Ascendant, or Midheaven this year will be filled with incredible energy, however that doesn’t leave anyone out.  Everyone has the energy of Aquarius in their chart.  Check out your natal chart and you can determine what house (area of life) that you can use the energy of this Grand Conjunction to your advantage.

It is typical for the Grand Conjunction to be heralded by a signature event.  So, keep an open mind, and expect the unexpected.
